The town of Igbogbo has a long and rich history of Obaship which is as old as the town itself.

It is a known fact that several “ELEGURE” has ruled in Igbogbo Kingdom from early 16th century to lately 18th century and in the year 1900 the first Oloja was installed

The names of all Oloja (oba) that ruled Igbogbo Kingdom from 1900 till 2016

  • 1900 – Oba Kashimawo                 
  • 1905 – Oba Oso Ojuba                     
  • 1931 – Oba Banjoko                   
  • 1933 – Oba Banmosu                 
  • 1940 – Oba Molaja Ogunlewe  
  • 1975 – Oba Omodeinwajaye Odugbose            
  • 1979 – Oba Fatola Johnson             
  • (2016 till date) – HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1                                         

Traditionally, there are four ruling houses in igbogbo namely

  • Fadugba Royal Family                     
  • Ijaolu Ruling Family
  • Ayanfolu Royal Family
  • Rademo Royal Family

This was based on the chieftaincy declaration made in 1957 by the western Nigerian Government and adopted by Lagos State Government

Kingmakers of IGBOGBO

The Kingmakers are the top marked chief in Igbogbo, they used to call them “IWAREFA’’ and it was also gazzetted by 1957 declaration wish they are
