Itun-Moore

According to historical accounts, one of the first settlers in igbogbo traced their roots back to Ile-ife, the cradle of the yoruba race.

Moore, the first ward to be inhabited was occupied by farmers and hunters from ile-ife in present day Osun state who named the area more after more quarters in their homeland.

These early settlers travelled from ILE-IFE, passing through Ibadan, Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu. At first, they settled temporarily at a place which they named Igbe Alagemo (Alagemo village, a name coined from the name of the Agemo masquerade which they brought along with them from ile-ife) before proceeding to present day Moore ward in igbogbo and settling permanently there.

Prominent among the early settlers were Latufewa, Ifelana, Radelu, Elegwa, Omogorusen and Moyin (a woman). These first settlers brought along with them some of their deities which they worshipped in Ile-Ife. Some of them like the Orisa (market fetish), Alale (owner of the land), Ushendo (the settler), and Agbala (seat of Agemo) and are still worshipped in Igbogbo till today.
